Rep. Cindy Axne and Theresa Greenfield
to Speak at NWSEO Convention
(September 24, 2019) In an effort to get national level political personalities to be familiar with NOAA and the NWS, the NWSEO invites local politicians to our convention. Last year Congressman Conner Lamb spoke at our convention and this year the Congressman has been an outspoken advocate for the agency. Cindy Axne and Theresa Greenfield have accepted our invitation to speak at the 2019 NWSEO National Convention in Des Moines, IA Saturday, October 5.
Cindy Axne (Democrat) is the Representative from Iowa's 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House, which includes Des Moines. She serves on the House Agriculture and Financial Services Committee.
Axne was one of the first two women to win election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Iowa.
Prior to serving in the U.S. Congress, Axne worked for the Tribune Company and the Iowa state government and started a business with her husband.
Theresa Greenfield (Democrat) is a candidate for the U.S. Senate from Iowa and is backed by unions throughout the state.
“Unions are essential to the fabric of our economy and lift up hardworking families across our state, and I’m honored to have their support. I’ll continue to be a vocal ally for union members as Iowa’s next Senator.”–Theresa Greenfield

NWSEO will reimburse reasonable airfare*, 2-nights lodging at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown, and approved group meals for attendance at the 2019 NWSEO Convention. The 25 percent threshold will be based on the certified 2018 total votes for each respective region.

Recruitment is important this year, as NWSEO works to negotiate the new Collective Bargaining Agreement which will shape the future of the NWS.
